The library is located on the second floor in Chenshan Botanical Garden Science Research Center. Its predecessor was a reading room when Chenshan Botanical Garden was under construction. It covers an area of 800 m². The library is composed of two parts, the books room and the reading room. We mainly collected professional books and variety of reference books covering a wide range of different subjects of plant science, including plant taxonomy, plant ecology, plant physiology, plant resources, plant biotechnology, horticulture, etc. We also collect books of the related cross subjects such as agriculture, forestry, pedology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacy and so on. We classify the books according to Categorization of Chinese Academy of Sciences Library. Now the collections of the library have reached about 18,000 volumes. And the computer automation management of library is also completed, containing all the detailed information of the books. The readers can retrieve, reserve and renew books online conveniently.

Our library keeps close cooperation with Shanghai Information Center for Life Sciences Chinese Academy of Sciences in collecting Botany information of life sciences, and we co-constructed "Life Science Library of Chenshan Botanical Library" in CBGS/SCPSRC.

As an important part of supporting departments for scientific research, library has a great development in the aspect of literature information resources construction in recent years. We not only actively use the resources outside the botanical garden, to develop literature information resource channels, but also purchase Jstor database, CABI database, JCR database, etc. to ensure the users access to more literature resources.
