2018 Shanghai Chenshan Water Lily International Symposium successfully held


August 18 and 19, 2018 Shanghai Chenshan International Water Lily Symposium jointly sponsored by National Flower Engineering Technology Research Center, Lotus Branch of China Flower Association and Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden (Shanghai Chenshan Plant Science Research Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences) was held at Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden. The Symposium attracted more than 140 representatives from nearly 60 domestic and foreign organizations.

The theme of the Symposium was “Water Lily Resources and Germplasm Innovation”. Mr. Michael Swize, former Chairman of IWGS International Water Lily Gardening Association, Mr. James Allison, Honorary Chairman, Sarada Krishannan, Director of Horticultural Center of Denver Botanical Garden, and Wang Liangsheng, Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences Researcher, Dr. Nopchai Chansilpa, Director of the Water Lily and Lotus Research Institute of Raja Mangala, Thailand, and other domestic and foreign experts and scholars attended the exchange. The Symposium presented the world's water lily germplasm and the frontiers of innovative work.

This Symposium builded a good communication platform for domestic and foreign water lily researchers, and further promoted the research and application of water lily through industrial exchange and industrial development.
