On January 25, 2018, Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden and Montreal Plant Biology Institute signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the Joint Phytoremediation Application Research Project at Shanghai Municipal Government, to further deepen scientific research cooperation between Shanghai and Montreal, jointly promote the development of phytoremediation in basic research and application.
Shanghai Municipal Party Committee’s Deputy Secretary and Mayor, Ying Yong, Shanghai Municipal Government’s Secretary General, Xiao Guiyu, Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office’s Director, Zhang Xiaosong, Deputy Director, Bei Zhaojian, Shanghai Municipal Greening & City Appearance Administration’s Deputy Director General, Fang Yan, Quebec Governor, Philip Kuyal, Quebec SME Regulatory and Regional Economic Development Department’s Acting Secretary, Stefani Piette, Lei Pingjiang from Quebec’s Office in China, Canadian Consul General in Shanghai ,Weldon Epp attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.
Hu Yonghong, Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden’s Executive Head, and Michelle Rabiksson, Montreal Plant Biology Institute’s Researcher and Associate Professor of the University of Montreal, respectively signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on behalf of the two organizations. The aim is to increase the two cities’ extensive communication and cooperation in education and environment protection. Moreover, the two cities will constantly deepen communication in many fields of science, such as park , gardening, botany, biodiversity, etc.
