Shanghai Key Laboratory of Plant Functional Genomics and Resources

Introduction

Approved by Shanghai Science & Technology Committee, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Plant Functional Genomics and Resources was established on September 30th, 2014, The Laboratory is located in Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden and was co-constructed by Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden (Shanghai Chenshan Plant Science Research Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Shanghai Normal University.

Considering the national development strategies and local needs, and oriented by green industry and ecological civilization construction, the Laboratory carries out research work taking advantages of the rich plant resources of the Garden. The total aim of the Laboratory is functional gene-mining and germplasm innovation of important plant resource using functional genomics technology, and therefore to comprehensively upgrade the technology level of conservation and sustainable exploration of resource plants in China. Focusing on the common research issues of resource plant, our research include several aspects like genomics and functional genomics, innovation and sustainable use of germplasm, and so on. Till now we have comprehensively studied on some important resource plant species such as peony and Salvia, with both horticultural and economic values, and have gained some profound achievements.

We have more than 4,000 m2 lab space and more than 2,000 m2 greenhouse. Moreover, a research platform equipped with various advanced devices also is available. We are proud to process a term of young and energetic staff with either Ph.D. or M.S. degree, we also recruit excellent graduate students to join our research team .And we warmly welcome all scholars and researchers interested in functional genomics of resource plants to visit our laboratory!
